Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership celebrates 25 years supporting the railway in Norfolk & Suffolk

The Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership (CRP) has celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special event run in conjunction with its local train operator, key partner and core funder, Greater Anglia. Friday 6 June saw guests enjoy a trip on all three Wherry Lines routes between Norwich and Great Yarmouth and Norwich and Lowestoft, on one of Greater Anglia’s state-of-the-art bi-mode trains, before a special reception at Lowestoft railway station.

Overnight move as iconic railway artefact finds new home

Oulton Broad North railway station signal box, an iconic piece of railway infrastructure and familiar landmark to both rail and road users is to be preserved for future generations following a major overnight exercise to relocate it to a nearby museum.

Wherry Lines CRP supporting Great Yarmouth station ‘Changing Places’ accessible toilet

Great Yarmouth rail station’s waiting room is set to receive a facelift and at the same time, the toilets will be refurbished and a Changes Places toilet facility installed to make the station more accessible.

Railway 200 National Exhibition Train to visit Lowestoft & Norwich in August 2025.

We are delighted to share that here at Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership, we have worked with Railway 200, GBR, GA and Network Rail to secure a visit of the Railway 200 Exhibition Train to Lowestoft from August 11 to 14, prior to this it will stop in Norwich.

New Interpretation Panels installed at busy station

27th February 2025

The Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership have installed two large interpretation panels at Oulton Broad North railway station. They provide useful visitor information, including maps to help people explore nearby Nicholas Everitt Park, Lowestoft Museum and the Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve. Plus, there is some interesting history of the station and Oulton Broad to discover on the panels.
