The Bittern Line Community Rail Partnership and the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership along with parent organisation Community Rail Norfolk have been re-accredited by industry trade body, Community Rail Network on behalf of the Department for Transport, with recognition based upon their extensive efforts over the past year and an array of exciting plans for the future.

Lowestoft Railway Station is to offer another chance to see the critically acclaimed exhibition, A Thousand Kisses, telling the story of the Kindertransport through the experiences of eight children, to mark the anniversary of a Kindertransport arrival in the town during December 1938.

Last weeks visit to Lowestoft station of the Railway 200 touring exhibition train, Inspiration attracted the highest visitor numbers for any station on the trains nationwide tour to date, second only to an appearance at the Greatest Gathering Exhibition at Alstom’s historic Litchurch Lane works in Derby which featured some 140 visiting trains and locomotives and attracted some 40,000 people to the wider event.

The team behind Lowestoft station’s Community Rail Shop & Tourist Information Office have marked five years serving the local community and visitors to the town.

The creation of a heritage quarter at Lowestoft railway station has taken another significant step forward after property services contractors Bell provided support to the project.

Railway photography exhibition featuring over 100 lost Bittern Line and Wherry Lines scenes opens on August 11.
